Longevity

Longevity is worthwhile provided the evening of our life has a significance of its own, but not just a pitiful appendage of the morning of our life.

What are the causes of Premature Ageing?

Chronic Diseases Most of the time, chronic diseases go hand in hand with a chronic inflammation of the body, which can result in accelerated ageing, and shortening of the individual’s live span. Two of the leading geroscientists in the world, Claudio Franceschi and Judith Campisi, stated in a medical paper published in 2014, that “human aging is characterized by a chronic, low-grade inflammation, and this phenomenon has been termed as ‘inflammaging’. Inflammaging is a highly significant risk factor for both morbidity and mortality in the elderly people, as most if not all age-related diseases share an inflammatory pathogenesis”. Excessive or Restrictive Dieting One major side effect of ageing is the slow but steady depletion of collagen, a form of protein that resides in the gut, and that stabilizes skin, bone structure, and other connective tissue in the body. Excessive or restrictive dieting can accelerate this process, resulting in fine lines, nutritional imbalances, and dryness. Excessive Ultraviolet Exposure Even though our bodies need regular sun exposure to maintain its Vitamin-D levels, excessive tanning, especially without any SPF-protection, can speed up the effects of premature ageing, such as facial wrinkling or skin discoloration. In the long-term, ultraviolet exposure can result in skin cancer.

Excessive Alcohol Consumption Regular alcohol consumption leads to ‘oxidative stress’ in the skin. During this process, free radicals enter the skin, and cause significant damage over time, resulting in un-even skin, fine lines, and other signs of premature ageing. In addition, alcohol can lead to dilated blood vessels, leaving redness on cheeks, nose or chin, which contributes to a more aged appearance of the skin. Smoking Smoking not only kills, but also causes similar oxidative stresses than alcohol to the skin. According to Dr. Levy, a board-certified dermatologist and clinical instructor in the dermatology department at Yale University, “smoking leads to wrinkles by destruction of collagen, elastic fibres, and proteoglycans, which are the building blocks needed for thick and youthful skin”. Lack of Sleep A common symptom for many people living and working in our fast-paced world is a chronic lack of sleep. The results: Reduced ability to concentrate, an inability to relax, a weakened immune system, eye puffiness, and discoloured under-eye-bags, which all together lead to the reduction of the youthful, radiant appearance we all desire, regardless of what age we are at.

      Detoxification

      Detoxification

When in full health, our bodies naturally get rid of toxins through organs such as kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin. However, if the body is out of balance, impurities are not fully filtered out of the blood stream, and therefore affect the overall well-being. Detoxification removes these impurities and toxins from the blood, and therefore reverses the causes of premature ageing.

Allopathic medicine offers synthetic solutions, which tend to have huge side effects. Therefore, at Metabalance, we offer Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. These are based on plant extracts and nanotised for transdermal absorption. Biologically identical hormones to the ones produced by our own bodies are administered, to restore the balance, correcting what is deficient in the clients hormonal system.
